About me…

This month Inner Sanctum will celebrate its 20th anniversary.

For those of you who are new to my page or business, I thought this would be a good opportunity for you to find out more about me –  the face behind Inner Sanctum.

I qualified as a beauty therapist over 22 years ago, and in 2001 I moved to Oxfordshire with my two small daughters. I immediately found a job working in a hairdressers in Lower Broadway in Didcot. Working part-time I soon came to love it there, and I still have clients from those first days, my ‘die-hards’’ who follow me onwards. When the salon changed hands 18 months later and the next owner didn’t want to offer beauty treatments, I took the plunge – Inner Sanctum was created from my home. I’m forever grateful that my regular clients supported me, following me to my new Inner Sanctum.

It didn’t take long to set up my business, especially since I already knew I wanted to use Dermalogica. In fact, I went off to Leatherhead for an intensive week-long course on their skin care regimes and for an in-depth knowledge of their products. I had been using Dermalogica myself since I was at college, it was a game changer for me as I’d had really problematic skin as a teenager. I was determined to use the Dermalogica brand as my sole skin care in-house and still remain loyal to them to this day. I attend regular training sessions each and every year to keep my knowledge up to date.

Like most, I’ve come through some stormy times along the years, recessions, personal issues, COVID, and now the cost of living crisis! But I am proud to say Inner Sanctum is still thriving. I believe the reason is my treatments are good and fairly priced, and I work hard to make sure you are safe and comfortable in my home. I’m genuinely interested in all of my clients. I love people, I love the idiosyncrasies of each one of you, I feel most of the time we are in fact friends who have shared many, many stories over the years. I have laughed till I’ve cried, cried with you, cried for you, and worried about you after you’ve left my salon. I’ve celebrated with you at weddings and retirement parties, seen all your baby photos, wedding albums, grandchildren and holiday snaps.

So now, my children have flown the nest and I’m still here enjoying my work as much as I did in those first days.

All that’s left to say is a huge thank you to all of you,  past, present and future clients who keep my little business growing from strength to strength each year.
